These paintings celebrate nature’s choreography and reflect the tumultuous times in which we live. The shapes are acrobatic, musical, chaotic. They suggest systems: tributaries, blood vessels, roots, freeway overpasses. An ode to the grace and tenacity of the natural world.
Through this series, I explore harmony and turbulence, color and pattern. I imagine systems in flux: off-ramps, realignments, danger ahead, uncharted pathways, detours. We are pushing ahead, pushing back. Some days, nature speaks for me.
Tendrils are strong. They uphold a plant’s structure, in this case, a backyard passionflower vine once laden with fruit, foliage, and branches. Maybe the Big Top is a circus tent, maybe it’s a firmament, holding our humanity.
